The story behind my works

I have been painting for as long as I can remember. My inspiration comes from everywhere: something I read in the newspaper, a person on the bus, or my own thoughts, interests, and opinions on a subject that I wish to illustrate and share through a painting.

In 2008, I created my first series, comprising 25 works: "Architectural Stories". It focuses on palaces, castles, and towers, presenting a different perspective - my own imaginative take - on architecture.

This was followed in 2009 by the series "My World – Your World", consisting of 28 works about our planet. It was heavily inspired by the COP15 climate conference, which took place at the time in Copenhagen, my adopted home.

In 2010, I created "The Bird and the Bee",  a romantic narrative told through 22 works that explores faith, love, and passion. It deals with the conflict between being wholly devoted to one’s calling and still being able to commit oneself to a relationship with another person.

In 2011, I painted the 16-piece series "The Magic Mailbox – or How to Find Love Again". It tells the story of Mr. Schwanenflügel, a postman who prioritized his duty above all else and, in doing so, lost almost everything.

In 2012, I delved into my favorite theme: time. The series was titled "TIME - All These Days": about appreciating every single moment and not constantly thinking about the next thing we have to achieve.

I had once read these words by a Swedish writer: "All those days that came and went by - I didn't know that they were life itself."

Through 16 works, I illustrated my view that only the present moment matters, for it never returns. There is no past or future; only the "now" exists.

These five series comprise a total of 109 works. A long hiatus from creating art followed, accompanied by personal highs and lows that helped me mature both as a person and as a painter.

It wasn’t until 2022 that I found the courage to pick up a paintbrush again, and that was when I realized just how much I had missed—and longed for—my calling and my passion during those ten years! 

58 works have been created since then, reflecting my transformation and evolution: the colors are clearer and bolder, the messages more authentic and spiritual, and human figures have found their way into the compositions. Portraits and female figures now define the scene; they tell my story as a freedom-loving, highly sensitive artist who embraces her true self, processes everything she has experienced and observed through her painting and repeatedly arrives at the same conclusion: life holds exactly the meaning that each individual gives to their own life. Our thoughts shape our reality. Choose wisely.
